Dreamweaver Stencils March Madness Challenge!!

Welcome to Dreamweaver Stencils March Madness Challenge!!
This month the madness is taking your creative personality and Dreamweaver Stencils and putting it on paper, canvas, a home decor item, oh the list could go on and on.

I haven't used the crackle technique in what seems like forever, so that is what my madness was this week.

Step One: I chose  Dreamweaver Stencils Star Flower (LL3027) for my project.  The first step to using Dreamweaver Crackle paste to to use Dreamweaver Matte Black Paste first.  This will provide a "toothy" background for the crackle paste to cling onto.  When the crackle paste cracks you will also see the black through the cracks.

Once the paste dried, I added a small amount of color over the crackle.  I used Prismacolor Color Pencils.
(sorry for the blurry pic)

The sentiment was pasted from Dreamweavers Thank Yous (LG691) with DW Glossy White Paste.
The shimmery background as well as the sentiment backgrounds were cut with a new Dreamweaver Stencils Nesting Frames (DD001) die cuts.

Dreamweaver Stencils February Flutters Challenge!!

Welcome to Dreamweaver Stencils February Flutter Challenge!!

This month the team is creating with anything that flutters.  Today I chose butterflies because I AM READY FOR SPRING.    We have about 10 feet of snow here in Western Montana and I am ready for some window open weather!!

I can't believe that I haven't tried this before, but today I used stencils with velvet paper in my die cutting machine.  I LOVE THE RESULTS!!!  I dry embossed the velvet paper with same way that I would have embossed regular paper.   My "embossing sandwich" is multi layer platform, stencil, paper, rubber embossing mat, TWO acrylic cutting plates.  I put the TWO cutting mats on last, so that  I don't accidentally bend my stencil.

I used a new release stencil from Dreamweaver Crusade LX7025:

I then went on to use the Double Glitter Technique on two different DW Butterfly Stencils:

Here is a step by step video tutorial using the Double Glitter Technique.

When I was done with the Double Glitter Technique, I cut my designs out and adhered them to my background in a 3D manner.

Obviously I wouldn't be able to mail this card in a traditional envelope, it could be mailed in one of those pizza box mailers, if you know what I am talking about.

I decided I was so happy with my creation, I put a frame behind it and placed in on my shelf in my craft studio/office.

I never make things for myself and all day I have been looking at this and love it more and more!!

Are you ready for some more Fluttering inspiration???

Quietfire Designs Queen of Hearts Blog HOP!!!

Welcome to the day three of the Quietfire Designs Queen of Hearts Event!

For those of you that read my blog regularly, you see the same words a lot.  Quick, easy, simple.
Here I go again, I chose an easy  home decor piece,  using a Suzanne Cannon Silhouette Cutting File.

This is how my kiddo's will find part of their Valentines treats!!!

I started my Valentine project with a charger from the sale bin at a craft store, a roll of white Oracal 651 Vinyl,  Transfer Tape and a Silhouette Cameo (not pictured).

In Silhouette Cameo software, I opened up the files that I wanted to cut, the files I chose from Suzanne Cannon's  Silhouette Store are You Stole My Heart Calligraphy and Heart Flourish.  I was able to manipulate the sizes of the designs as well as how many flourishes I wanted for the project also.  I placed it on the virtual cutting mat where I wanted it to cut.

After I finished weeding.  Weeding is removing all of the unwanted vinyl from around your characters.  In the above photo I have placed transfer tape over  the top of the design  to make placing the image in its appropriate place very simple.

Once I have my design where I want it I can remove the transfer tape, which is a  medium tack, so it comes off of everything nicely.

Complete.  Sitting on my counter, waiting for the BIG DAY!!!

Love, Love, Love You Forever!!!!!! Quietfire Designs !! Perfect for Valentines Day!!

Oh how I love Valetines Day!!  I love all the "lovin" going on.  I love pink, hearts and just "lovin" on people!!!

Making Valentines Day cards kind of comes pretty easy to me.  Quietfire Designs new release, Calligraphic Love Bits made the card I had in mind perfect!!  The smaller sentiments fit exactly where I wanted on this smaller card or what could be a gift tag.

The card from was created using Spellbinders Nested Heart die.  I cut the die with a die cutting machine and then dry embossed the shape using a rubber mat and a die cutting machine.

While the patterned paper was still in the die, I rubbed Ranger Distress Ink Walnut Stain over the die (that was acting like a stencil) onto the paper.    I then stamped the "love you forever" sentiment with brown pigment ink and heat embossed detail clear embossing powder.

Onto the another piece of patterned paper,  I traced around the nesting die again and cut it out by hand to it was just a bit bigger than the die cut.  Using adhesive dimensional I adhered the card front to the card back.

With a two inch piece of kraft card stock, I scored a 1/2 inch edge to adhere to the back of my card panel to create a sentiment panel.  I stamped the smaller fun little sentiments and beautiful heart to the inside.

Simple Gift Creations with Quietfire Designs Digital Cutting Files

It is my turn to share on the Quietfire Designs Blog!!

Today I am sharing a simple gift creation using Quietfire Designs digital files, a Silhouette Cameo digital cutting machine and software and vinyl.

This entire post was RIDDLED with technical difficulties on the user's  (ME) part.  The video below is a screen video of the file being  created in the Silhouette Cameo Designer Edition software.  I had plans of actually videoing the creation of the gift, BUT my wonderful son borrowed my video camera over the weekend and left it with a dead battery.  Gotta love sharing!!!

Anyhoooo…onto the important stuff…..

The file has been created and is being cut by a Silhouette Cameo.  I used red Oracal 651 vinyl.  I am applying the design to the glass of a 5 x 7 photo frame and I don't anticipate any harsh condition for the gift, but none the less, 651 will do the trick.

Here is the design after being weeded and transfer paper has been applied.
I used R Choice Clear Transfer Sheets.  They are the perfect amount of tack for any project.

The design has been applied the glass and has been burnished.  The blue tool to the right is a burnishing tool.  I rub it over the design to adhere the adhesive from the vinyl to the glass.

See how easily the transfer paper comes off of the design and the glass.  Piece of cake.

Remember in the video how I flipped the design horizontally for cutting?  Now that the design is right way, can you see that you can't feel the vinyl on the outside of the glass?

The finished gift!!
I placed a white piece of card stock on the back of the design, but one of my favorite things to do is create a "floating" frame.  It is so simple.  Hot glue the glass to the frame from the inside and leave the back of the frame off.  You can then hang your frame not the wall and it looks as if the frame and design are floating.

Thank you so much for watching and reading along.  I apologize for the not having the second part of my project on video.  Dang kiddos!!

Enjoy your week and I will see you next time!!!

Dreamweaver Stencils Winter CHA New Release…10 NEW Stencils!!

Happy Thursday!!  Today is the funnest day, the funnest day of a NEW RELEASE!!!  Today is the day that we can finally share all the great new designs that Dreamweaver Stencils is releasing!!

We are challenging you this month to Lose Some Weight or in other words, CAS (clean and simple).  Drop the embellishments are ride with it.

I had a great time using all the new stencils!!  The stencil I chose for today is a new LJ size, Swirly Hearts.   You can view all of the new releases on this Stencil With Style page.

My card was paste embossed with Red Glossy Embossing Paste.  Once dry, I used a square Spellbinders die and cut out a piece of the corner of the card.   The embossed panel was adhered to a red matte and a white card base.  I then matted the piece that was die cut from the background and used foam adhesive to pop it up off the card.

Please join us for our Lose Some Weight Challenge (clean and simple).  Create your card and link it to the Dream It Up Blog.

The Door Was Marked " You by Quietfire Designs

Hello there!!!    This is my first post as a new member of the Quietfire Design Team!  I have received such a warm welcome and am thrilled to be here.  As I am sure you all are, I am wild about Quietfire Designs.  The stamps, the digital files….I could go on.

Here is a bit about me… I live in Western Montana, a stones throw from the Idaho border, I have a super husband, four children (we have a blended family), one boy, 20 and three girls, 17, 11 and 10.  We have four Labradors and 7 chickens.   My husband and I both own our own businesses and I am currently obsessed with knitting and crochet.  I must do it everyday to live,   haha!!  In addition to designing for Quietfire Designs, I also am a Design Team member for Dreamweaver Stencils.

We have a wonderful piece of paradise.  Here is a photo taken from my back porch!

There you have it!!    Now onto the important stuff!!

Today I created with one of the latest and greatest, The Door Was Marked "You".

The sentiment was stamped on a  background that I made by mixing three Versa Magic Chalk Inks, Pink Petunia, Perfect Plumeria and Malted Mauve.  I added the colors to a craft sheet and applied with a brayer to white card stock.

The sentiment was stamped with Pearlescent Crimson Brilliance pigment ink and heat embossed with detail clear embossing powder.

Spellbinders dies are one of the best products to compliment Quietfire Designs amazing stamps.  You don't have to look far to find a combo of the two products that are perfect for each other.

For my card, I cut the Spellbinders Fleur Di Lis Doily Accents border die.  I cut two of them and slightly shifted to over lap each other.  Pearl Accents from Ranger top off the femininity of this card.   As I wrote this the last sentence, I just realized that this a sentiment I would use on a card that I would give my husband, but I can't give him a pink card.  I will have to make another with masculine colors.  Watch for it on my blog.

Thank you for taking the time to read my inaugural post!!

Supply List:

Stamp: Quietfire Design

Ink: Tsukineko Versa Magic, Tsukineko Brilliance Ink

Embossing Powder: Stampendous

Dies: Spellbinders

Accents: Ranger

Quietfire Design November Guest Designer

Happy Friday!!

I love Susanne's designs from the Silhouette America store.  I think by now, I own them all!!!  The Christmas Tree Calligraphic image available at the Silhouette America Store is also an image from the Christmas is the Day set of nine stamps.

I used a dark card stock and I will explain why in a moment.
The settings I used on the machine were for plain card stock

  • Speed 3
  • Thickness 33
  • Blade 3

With a bit of spray adhesive on the back I placed my die cuts where I wanted them on my card stock.  I them colored the entire sheet with my Copic Air Brush system.  I used an array of greens until I achieved my desired color.

Desired color and airbrushing complete.

To finish the card panel I stated both sizes of trees from the Christmas is the Day set in between my masked trees.  The Merry Christmas is also from the same set.  I stamped and heat embossed on vellum and added a bit of brown ink to the vellum.

The reason I like to use dark card stock as masks is that I can add color over the top, as in this case, I cut black Christmas trees, was able to air brush over the entire top of them with multiple shades of green and I am still able to use them as black trees on a different card.  The sentiment is another Quietfire Design, Hold on to the Spirit of Christmas.

Thank you for joining me today!!  I hope you enjoyed this post!!
Happy Stamping and cutting!!
